Bockatech's EcoCore® technology, used in the Shrewsbury Cup scheme, has been included in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative research on reusable packaging models.
Bockatech EcoCore® was recognised in the innovative study based on evaluation of more than 100 initiatives, and interviews with over 50 experts, around the globe.
The innovative reuse study was unveiled at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation' New Plastics Economy Annual Summit in London
The research also highlights six ways that reuse can bring significant benefits to both users and businesses:
Cut costs
Adapt to individual needs
Optimise operations
Build brand loyalty
Improve user experience
Gather intelligence
The foundation estimate that converting 20% of global plastic packaging into reuse models offers a USD 10 billion business opportunity.
As part of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, over 350 organisations have recognised that reuse business models should be explored wherever possible to reduce the need for single-use plastic packaging.
Over 100 of the businesses have also committed to move from single-use to reusable packaging by 2025 when relevant.
The free to download reuse research provides a description of how different reuse models work — as well as typical implementation challenges — providing guidance and inspiration for businesses that want to make the most of reuse opportunities.
